2026 CIPM Abuja Branch Elections

A three (3)-member Electoral Committee was constituted on 21st January 2026 at the Monthly Branch Meeting, with the mandate to conduct the 2026 Branch Executive Elections scheduled to hold on Wednesday, 18th March 2026.

The Committee held its inaugural virtual meeting on 7th February 2026, during which the following resolution was reached:

The 2026 CIPM Abuja Branch Elections shall be conducted virtually.

Accordingly, the Electoral Committee hereby presents the Election Guidelines (Article 7), approved in line with the CIPM State Bye-Laws (as amended):

Election Guidelines

  1. Any member contesting for an elective position must be a registered member of the Institute, with a record of consistent participation in Branch activities. Any financial member of the Institute and the Branch can contest for an elective post subject to other conditions stated in this bye-law.
  2. Any member vying for an elective post must be a registered member of the Institute and the Branch, with a record of consistent participation in branch activities and not under any official investigation for bad conduct.
  3. Any member vying for an elective post shall be nominated by one financial member and his nomination shall be supported by another financial member.
  4. Election shall be by electronic or secret ballot at the Branch Annual General Meeting (AGM).
  5. Only financial members are eligible to vote. A financial member is a member that is up to date in the payment of his/her annual subscription and or monthly dues to the Branch.
  6. Eligible members are entitled to not more than one vote per person.
  7. Members shall at the general meeting before the Annual General Meeting appoint a 3-member Electoral Committee to be chaired by the Immediate Past Chairman (IPC) or a Past Chairman, if the IPC is unavailable.
  8. The Electoral Committee members shall not vote nor be voted for, and shall cease to hold office after the elections.
  9. A candidate shall be deemed duly elected where they have a simple majority of votes cast or elected unopposed if no one contests against them.
  10. All campaign must end at a minimum of twenty-four (24) hours before the Branch's AGM.
  11. The result of any election shall be read to the whole house by the Chairman of the Electoral Committee.

on or before the 20th of February, 2026. Please note that this timeline is strict in order to accommodate the screening, Branch and National clearances of candidates.
